MAUTHAUSEN: KILLING OPERATIONS

"Mauthausen Concentration Camp (Austria)." Mauthausen Concentration Camp (Austria). N.p., n.d. Web. 14 Jan. 2013.

The Mauthausen camp authorities killed Jews that was disable, sick, or too weak to work. The most popular way that they killed the Jews was with gas. They started using gas in 1941-1942. The Mauthausen camp had gas chambers that killed up to 80 people at a time. in 1934 the RSHA provided the camps with mobile gas van that killed up to 30 people. Physicians and camp authorities chose people to be in an "experiment". They mostly chose twins to do these expiroments on. Camp physician Hermann Richter surgically removed important organs like the stomach, liver, or kidneys from living prisoners so they will know how long a prisoner could survive without the organ. The SS also killed perishers by shooting, hanging, and mistreating them. Thousands of Jews died from harsh living conditions, disease, and starvation.

  2. Its depressing to know how the victims of those camps suffered everyday and to know how lucky some were that didn't have to experience as much of torture and pain as some. I can't even imagine how it must have felt to experience such a high dosage of inflicted pain. Really good post.

  3. That is horrible how they tortured them with surgery like that. It's also crazy how they use the Jews as a testing animal and did experiments on them.

  4. Its really horrible knowing that these people that was mentaliy disable and weak or sick was killed just because of this. The twins that had to watch as there siblings that they shared everything with was forced to watch as the other died. They were not only killed by taking out the organ these men doing the expeimnets, but they lost their will to live.

  5. This reminds me of something Wiesel said in the interview with Oprah, "the ones who went first and the quickest were the lucky ones." The experimentation and suffocation of the Jews was so sad and sick.

  7. Why would you kill people that sicks and stuff? They cant help it. They should help them get through it and not go kill them for no reason.

  8. It's sad how they gave them pore living conditions and expected them to not be weak or get sick
